ATTRACTIONS IN INDONESIA


Bali

Bali, Indonesia is stuffed with all spectacular white sand beaches, a flourishing jungle and superb mountain scenery that are interspersed with lavish green rice fields. Bali is surely a tropical paradise. Its famed tourist attractions are concentrated on its southern beaches. Tourist can hire bicycles or cars and take on the unhurried paths through the Bali villages and experience the real hospitality of its people. A traditional life of the locals is marked with their colorful festivals, their sophisticated wedding ceremony, their cremation rituals, their dances and music. There is also an obvious influence of religion in almost all of the social characteristics of a Balinese daily life. There are different crafts that are distinctly Bali like the following: woodcarvings, handmade quilts, silver and gold crafts, temple umbrellas, masks, and miniature paintings. But Bali’s major tourist attraction is the Mother’s Temple which is locally known as Pura Besakih.

Banda Islands

The famous Banda Islands is consisting of 8 islands and some of these islands are volcanic in nature. During the 1400s, the Banda Islands were known as the Spice Islands because of the most valuable spices are located in its islands. At recent times, these islands are known for its great snorkeling and diving adventure that if offer to those adventurous few, with its blue waters, the coral reefs that teemed with its rich underwater life. Fishing is also a very popular activity in these islands.

Irian Jaya

Irian Jaya is located at the western side of the New Guinea Island that was once popular for its tribal villages located in the Baliem Vally. Its inhabitants were totally unheard to the outside civilization during the 19th century. A word of caution: some areas in this island are prohibited to tourists.

Lombok

Lombok is just approximately 50 km from east of Bali. Lombok is one of those islands that are popular amongst the tourists. A lot would still visit even if Lombok has none of Bali’s physical beauty. However, there are a lot of temples that are scattered all across the island, it also has its own distinct handicrafts like the woven fabrics and those rattan baskets are its popular local crafts. The famous tourist attractions in Lombok are located in Senggigi Beach area. The Gunung Rinjani has the most soothing hot springs together with an active volcano. Desert Point is a famous spot for those surfing enthusiasts. And there’s the Gili Islands that is located at the North West coast, it is for those individuals who want a peaceful relaxing atmosphere. The island offers spectacular coral reefs, a number of gentle beaches, and nothing can disturb your peace since there are no motorbikes or cars that can get near the area.

Sumatra

Sumatra is located in the western side of Indonesia. Sumatra has active volcanoes, dense rainforests and deep lakes. But Sumatra is only second to Bali’s natural beauty. Sumatra’s Lake Toba, a volcanic lake, is set at the core of the picturesque mountains. It sure is listed as one of the most popular destinations. What’s more? Bukittinggi and Medan towns are also part of every tourist priority list. Plus the famed Bukittinggi’s sizzling Padang cuisine is simply magnificent.

Yogakarta

Java’s capital, Yogakarta, is the center of Indonesia’s cultural, educational and economic activity. Gajah Mada University is the country’s first university. There are also a great number of markets, arts centers, bazaars, galleries and craft shops that are scattered on the island. The following made Yogakarta well – known amongst foreign tourists: its popular distinct art of Indonesia called the ‘wayang kulit’ and the country’s prominent leather puppetry shows. Also the 1,000 – year – old Buddhist temple, the Borobudor, is rich with its own historic art.
