Hong Kong has a massive amount of museums that are scattered all across the Hong Kong Island, New Territories and Kowloon area. These museums are a great source of information on Hong Kong’s culture, its natural history, the science and technology and its art.

Here are the top selection of Hong Kong’s best museums...

Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware

Is located in Central district Hong Kong Island. Its opening hours are between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Flagstaff House Museum will be closed to the public every Tuesday and on certain public holidays.

New Territories has an amazing museum called Airport Core Program Exhibition Center. It is open to the public every Tuesday to Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday, Sunday and other public holidays from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. Airport Core Program Exhibition Center will be closed every Monday except on public holidays, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Chirstmas Day, and the first 3 days of the Chinese New Year.

Another fabulous museum in the New Territories area is the Food of Mankind Museum. It is open on Sundays and other public holidays from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm and will be closed on every Tuesdays, Boxing Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and the first 3 days of the Chinese New Year.

Health Education Exhibition and Resources Center

Can be located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Health Education Exhibition and Resources Center had its grandest opening last year in 2007 and its opening hours are the following: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and every Sunday from 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Hong Kong (HK) Film Archive Museum

Can be located in Sai Wan Ho, Hong Kong Island. Its Main Foyer is open for the public to visit during Friday – Wednesday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm or about 15 minutes after the last screening ends. And it will be closed on Christmas at 5:00 pm, its Box Office is from Friday – Wednesday from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm or after the last screening sharts, the Resource Center would welcome everybody on a Monday – Wednesday and Friday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and on Sunday and other public holidays 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and its Exhibition Hall is opened from Friday – Wednesday 10:00 pm – 8:00 pm. It will be closed every Thursday excluding those public holidays and the first two days of the Chinese New Year.

Hong Kong Maritime Museum

Location is on Stanley, Hong Kong Island. Locals and tourists alike can get in and enjoy its displays every Sunday, Tuesday to Friday and also on Public Holidays 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and every Saturday 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. The museum is closed every Mondays and on the first two days of the Chinese New Year.

Hong Kong Museum of History

Is situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. It is open during Monday, Wednesday to Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and on Sundays and other public holidays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. During Chinese New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve it will close at 5:00 pm. The museum is closed every Tuesday except on public holidays and the first two days of Chinese Lunar New Year.

Hong Kong Museum of Coasta Defense

Is on Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong Island. Locals and tourists can get inside the museum on Friday to Wednesday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and it will close every Thursday excluding the public holidays and the first two days of Chinese Lunar New Year.

Hong Kong Museum of Medical Science

Is located in the heart of Hong Kong Island at its Mid – Levels. The museum is open every Monday, Wednesday to Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and on Sundays and other public holidays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. It will close at 5:00 pm on Chinese New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve. Hong Kong Museum of Medical Science is closed every Mondays.

Hong Kong Railway Museum

Can be found in Tai Po, Kowloon. Its opening hours are Mondays, Wednesday – Sunday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and is closed every Tuesdays, Boxing Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and the first three days of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Po Leung Kuk Museum

Is in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island. Opening hours every Monday to Wednesday, Friday to Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and Thursdays 10:00 am – 5:30 pm and will be closed on every Sundays and during public holidays.

Sheung Yiu Folk Museum

Is situated in Sai Kung, New Territories. Visitors are welcome every Wednesday to Monday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Sheung Yiu Folk Museum will close every Tuesdays, Boxing Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and the first two days of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
